Mark Cuban Reinvents the Hoverboard, But Calls It a “Rideable”

Billionaire and Shark Tank Star Mark Cuban seems to agree that for a hoverboard to be a hoverboard it has to actually…hover. His team at Radical Transport has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the Radical Moov, an “electric rideable” that looks very similar to those exploding hoverboards but promises to be much, much safer.

The bad reputation hoverboards have received in the past few years can be attributed to most being manufactured in China using cheap parts and being made like toys. Radical Transport makes it clear that the “Moov is a machine, not a toy” that was conceptualized to be a new means of personal transportation. The Moov was designed from the ground up using only safe and reliable parts from America. Additionally, Moov engineers inspect and test every single battery and board before it gets shipped out to its new owner.

Apart from safety, several design features differentiate the Moov from other hoverboards on the market. The rideable is designed to be closer to the ground which provides optimum control and stability, while its die-cast aluminum chassis provides structure without compromising weight. Integrated sensors respond to how the user shifts his/her weight, increasing stability and improving handling. Large, impact-absorbing wheels allow for a much smoother ride and make it suitable for both street and indoor surfaces. The team at Radical Transport were inspired by skate and snowboard culture and wanted to make the Moov customizable to the rider’s own unique style. Riders can purchase interchangeable decks that are secured with powerful magnets and can be swapped out in seconds. A center handle on the rideable makes it easy to carry while on the go and powerful LED’s can help light the path while riding in the dark. Moov comes with its own app so riders can tailor ride dynamics to match their preferences.

Since the rideable is marketed as a machine and not a toy, it’s going to come with a premium price tag. The Moov is currently available for early pledgers on Kickstarter for $1199. Will you join the Moovment?
