CROSSKIX – Shoes of The future

CROSSKIX

A former instructor at Design Engine has created a cool new style in active footwear. His design is currently running on KICKSTARTER

Why CROSSKIX? Here are some questions we asked the designer of CROSSKIX Alfred Santillan.

1. What inspired you to develop a shoe (how many sizes are available?)

3-13 (mens and womens). I saw a niche in the EVA market that CROCS dominated and virtually no competitors. I wanted to produce a more sporty and athletic design with more functional features AND fit like a regular sneaker for multi-purpose use…not just another slip-on.

2. We understand that you did not use Pro/ENGINEER to develop the form. What difficulties did you run into with dealing with China? Was all the communication with Illustrator and Photoshop?

Communication w/China is always difficult! All communication was done via phone, image files, and sketches. Dealing w/China can be MUCH easier if you are dealing with them face to face.

3. I bet your learned a lot from the Chinese factories. How many trips did you make there? I’m sure you learned a lot, what is the biggest thing you learned?

I’ve been in shoe development for about 4 years now and yes…have learned a lot! Biggest thing learned is if you can spend time in China to produce your product it WILL save a LOT of time! (more about the country but that’s a whole ‘nother conversation!)

4. So you have a kickstarter campaign. What will the money you raise be used for?

size molds (3-13), opening order (small), legal, trade shows, etc. (all IF we raise enough money; the monies we receive will determine what we can do)

6. Whats next?

Hopefully we get funded. If so, molds produced for all sizes, review all size samples, production, delivery.

CROSSKIX are a Hybrid Footwear for multiple uses. It is by far the most technical shoe in the EVA footwear category. “CROSS” is the short term for “crossover” and “KIX” is for “kicks” which is slang for shoes (a term typically used by young adults).

Wear ’em with different color socks!

Let’s face it….there is really ONLY one brand out there that dominates the EVA (soft foam composite) footwear category (as you have seen in the video). We all know who that is. But if you’re like MANY other folks, you’re probably have said to yourself…”they’re comfortable, but I wouldn’t be caught with them on!”

The goal at CROSSKIX was to design a shoe that EVERYONE can PROUDLY wear for multiple uses and of course…look GOOD while doing it. There’s definitely a void in this category for a more sportier, stylish, and functional shoe. 4 years have been spent designing, redesigning, testing, retesting, producing sample after sample and have finally come up with a shoe that all men, women, and kids just can’t wait to get their feet into.

CROSSKIX is committed to producing top quality footwear for the demanding consumer that cares about price, style, and functionality.
Creating a Culture.

How can you be part of the culture?

Support their campaign so we can go into production. Your support will pay for molds (sizes 3-13) and a production run so you can be the first to wear CROSSKIX.

If CROSSKIX can get to $150k, THEY will be able to ADD to the colorways (below) a 6th colorway (one of which you will vote on).

Your pledges and support is GREATLY APPRECIATED…THANK YOU!!
