Quad Mountain and its Ultimate One are the result of a great design and successful crowd funding. Tim McLellan’s design company (Mobius Innovation & Development, Inc.) is known for developing innovative products and solving tough problems for his clients. However, Tim explains “we have a book of great ideas internally to Mobius, some we’ll take to market.”
Well the Ultimate One is the first. As Tim explained, “The opportunity to pursue a creative idea and have it supported by so many is just amazing. We are humbled by the kind comments and support.” This was shortly after the project was funded for manufacturing through Kickstarter. Since that time Quad Mountain has been off and running. The Ultimate One designed in Creo Elements/Pro and rendered using Keyshot continues to gain recognition for its design and engineering approach. “Every feature in the wristband has a purpose. Every single one, soft feel, thin profile, lightweight, even the wristband buckle was designed to lie incredibly flat and that is just a small sample of our thought process. Sales continue to be strong and the testimonials keep rolling in. It is really exciting”, said Tim.
The Ultimate One’s design captures both style and usability. His design eliminated any exposure of the iPod nano to the skin by producing a wristband with no holes on the underside. He also took a different approach to the orientation of the nano on the wrist. This orientation protects for full wrist movement, yet allows for any type of connector to be used with the nano. This includes things like Bluetooth adaptors and the Nike + sports kit. Take a look at their site and especially “the design” section for more details.
