Rhino Level 3: Flamingo Rendering

Course Duration: 40 hours

Tuition: $2,200 USD

Overview: Rhinoceros 3D is a multi-disciplinary NURBS modeling software used in a variety of applications and industries. Rhino modeling and surfacing can be used to develop any number of products including jewelry, automobiles, optics and computer hardware, just to name a few. This course covers general principles of rendering as it relates specifically to Rhino and Flamingo. Flamingo brings the features of AccuRender’s Ray Trace and Radiosity Rendering technology to Rhino. This plug-in includes rendering accurate images with Reflections, Refraction, Diffusion, Translucency, Transparency, Shadows, Depth of Field, Depth Attenuation, Clear Finish™, and Indirect Lighting. This course can also be administered with various other Rhino plug-in utilities such as Vray and Maxwell. Ask to speak to your instructor before coming to the class. Other features include procedural clouds, fractal-generated 3D plants, procedural 2D and 3D materials, progressive-refinement for quick preview, and background libraries.

Prerequisites: Industrial design degree, art degree, or CAD experience helpful but not necessary.

  • Avoid numerous beginner mistakes & focus on high level rendering.
  • Displacement, procedural, etc.
  • User defined materials.

Discussions:

  • Render realistic glass with tips and tricks for procedural renderings.
  • What it takes to create a realistic rendering through lighting techniques, materials, and decals.
