Anyone who has tried to sleep in on a Saturday morning knows how unpleasant and unforgiving the roar of gas-powered lawn mower could be at 7:00 AM. In addition to the incessant noise, the old fashioned gas powered motor as also be a key contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and particulate matter which often could exceed several gas-powered cars. We see here the net effect of not having the same degree of scrutiny and regulation as motor vehicles have over the past few decades. Now with the advent of cordless electric mowers with lithium-ion batteries both the issues of noise pollution and air pollution are beginning to get addressed n the lawn and garden space.

The leader, and arguably the equivalent of a luxury marque in this relatively new segment has been EGO, who have created a line of cordless electric mowers that can match and exceed gas-powered mower performance without any emissions whatsoever. The LM2102SP has a 56 volt lithium ion battery is light in weight and provides a long life making suitable even for large suburban lawns. The self-propelled mower is both low maintenance and easy to store. The push button start and relatively quick charge time courtesy of the 60-minute rapid charger. Free your neighbors of jarring high decibel sounds while at the same time freeing yourself from the of burning oil and gas.

Ego itself is a branded name created by China-based power tool powerhouse Chervon, who have had a global footprint for the last two decades. When Chervon developed the proprietary Arc 56-volt lithium-ion technology in its arc electric tool line, inclusive of lawn mowers, snow blowers and cordless electric trimmers in 2012, it created the EGO brand for the sole purpose of branding and marketing the new heavy-duty cordless line. The relative lightweight and long run time of their lithium-ion powered tools have earned them a significant market share from people who formally would have bought gas powered tools.

Chervon relocated its EGO division previously located in Grand Rapids, Michigan was Brought to Naperville, Illinois in 2017 as part of a consolidation with some other units acquired by Chervon inclusive of the Bosch Tools Skill and Skilsaw band which it acquired at the beginning of 2017. The industrial design and engineering groups are located in Naperville and use Creo and NX.

We hope that this quieter cleaner approach to mowing a lawn will in the next few years become the accepted standard and replace dirty polluting gas mowers that unbeknownst to many can do more damage over an hour than 10 internal combustion engines.
