Another new class we will offer is the Creo to Solidworks / Solidworks to Creo class. One other class we will offer this year is an intensive comparison of Creo vs Solidworks for those companies looking to make the switch. This class will be offered in an unbiased non sales perspective in week long format starting this month.

01.28.19 – Design Engine has been asked to preform a demonstration with a “non sales oriented” perspective, comparing SOLIDWORKS to Creo, for Sleep Number in Minneapolis MN. They are interested in switching from PTC Creo to SOLIDWORKS. Our deliverable at the end of this intense comparison will be a metric for making a non emotional decision based on needs, cost, UI, ease of learning, PDM and data migration. Yes, it was -31°F in Minneapolis this week (not including heat loss to windchill).

02.11.19 – Design Engine conducts a new and special AAX- Advanced Assemblies Creo Training intensive to the US Army in Detroit, MI. These teams have taken an abbreviated version of this class a year earlier in the form of a Creo 4.0 update training. However, this class goes much deeper into the AAX tools & this course is complete with a team approach to top down design.

The focus on this class was to manage co-injected rubber on hand-held products by combining specific workflow using top down design with Design Engine’s plastic part design class.

01.08.18 – Design Engine conducts her Creo to Solidworks version of ‘you’ve switched packages’ classes. This class is for those design or engineering teams that have been forced to switch parametric software packages. In this type of training we understand that participants are probably upset, however we make the transition as smooth and rewarding as possible in this one week intensive. You are not in this class with others that are learning 3d from scratch. The class was quite pumped to see how much they could learn in just one week.

03.05.18 – US Army TARDAC has Design-engine down again for the final week of Creo 4.0 update training. This full week consisted of tips, tricks and update from Wildfire 2.0 to Creo 4.0. The premise is that design engineers may not take strategic advantage of all the tools from years of updates.

09.10.18 – Singapore. Long time partner Dell Corporation enlists Design engine for a custom Creo Surface modeling intensive in Singapore. This class includes both Mechanical Engineers and Industrial Designers with a focus on Sub’D ‘Creo Freestyle’ surfaces and Style.

This class can be customized to fit specific requirements from 3 days to 5 days. Customization may include: custom tutorials and custom models, or making the workshop more specific to plastics, industrial design, capturing form, or proving form.
07.24.17 – Creo Simulate taught Midmark class how to test, validate, and optimize Creo models & assemblies. Creo Simulate enables engineers to simulate structural and thermal loads on products. Participants completed comprehensive, hands-on lab exercises that simulate realistic analysis, and design optimization activities.
07.24.17 – Custom Creo Surfacing taught onsite at Select Comfort in Minnesota. This course taught Select Comfort staff how to utilize Creo Surfacing to create models specific to their organization’s needs.
07.31.17 – Custom Rhino and Grasshopper Training onsite at Oakley in California. Oakley was able to customize their training needs by blending Rhino and Grasshopper to edit, analyze, and render their models.

01.11.16 – Design-Engine administers a special Creo 3.0 workshop to Dell Computers in Austin TX. The participants of the training class all knew Solidworks & Rhino 3d so the course was administered as with that in mind. The participants also received one day of the Design-engine level 1 Surfacing class in their final day of training. Industrial designers often use Alias or Rhino while their engineering departments use Creo. ID forcing Rhino or Alias IGES models can and often does cause bottle necked problems in engineering as products move past ID thru to Engineering and into production. These Industrial designers discovered a Parametric workflow all while learning to leverage the parent child relationships learning why Creo is so powerful. Dell and Design-engine have a 10+ year working history.
01.11.16 – Mixer Design Group coincidentally requested the Design-engine one week Surfacing class and received that this week also in Austin TX.
01.14.16 – Dell Computers received the Design-engine Mechanism Class called ‘Creo Mechanism Dynamics Intensive’. This intensive covers the specific constraints the first day + analysis functions the second day. 01.18.16 – Ingersoll Rand Sends three industrial designers for the Design-engine special 7 day Creo 3.0 class. Creo 3.0 course specifically to industrial designers.
01.25.16 – Motorola, Zebra Technologies and Wistron all join us in Chicago for a Creo surfacing class or what Design engine calls the ‘WEEK ONE Creo Surfacing Intensive’. http://proetools.com/week-one-full-week-of-creo-surfacing-isdx-intensive. Motorola did own the Symbol Technologies arm of Motorola and only recently that arm was purchased by Zebra Technologies. It was a coincidence the two were in the same Creo surfacing class. 02.01.16 – General Atomics office just South of Salt Lake City UTAH takes on the Chicago Winter for a Design-engine Level 1 Creo Modeling & Drawing Class. This class covers many of the basics that all users need to become experts fast including the basics of Surfacing & Top Down Design. This is the class you wish you had when starting out explains one of our Creo instructors to managers looking for training classes. Design-engine has a 10+ year history of working with General Atomics.
02.08.16 – This week Design-engine delivered a three day Creo surfacing intensive to engineers in Holland Michigan at Herman Miller. This custom surface modeling class to Studio Design engineers is a specialty class designed to put participants into a different category of skill sets and confidence. This was the 4th class total to Herman Miller over the past decade.
02.15.16 – Design Engine Developed a special Level one class for Chicago IL & Kalamazoo MI Rubbermaid industrial designers and studio engineers. This Learning Creo class was developed to aid studio engineers into getting comfortable with surfaces while learning the basics of Creo. This class covers both top-down design and touches on Surfacing because everyone in the class either already knows Solidworks, Rhino or Alias Studio. (they come back for surfacing a few months later)

03.14.16 – Design Engine visits Steelcase in Grand Rapids MI to administer the WEEK1 Creo Surfacing Intensive. This Creo surfacing class was specifically designed to for beginning users or for those designers who already know some surfacing to grow into Creo surfacing experts.
03.21.16 – Design Engine visits Dell in Austin TX to administer the WEEK1 Creo Surfacing Intensive. This Creo surfacing class was specifically designed for Dell industrial designers and studio engineers that previously took a special introductory Level 1 course where all the designers already knew Rhino or Solidworks first.
03.30.16 – Design Engine administered a 3 day surfacing intensive to Liberty Hardware of Chicago. A short walk from the Design Engine West Loop office, Liberty Hardware product development team already took several weeks of training. This Level 12 Creo Surfacing class was developed for those users who want to push their skills further.
04.02.16 – Design Engine headed south as apart of her Engineering School Outreach program to The University of Illinois UofI campus. There we conducted a four hour workshop to Engineering undergraduates. We have traveled to as far way as London England and Mexico City for our Industrial Design & Engineering School outreach program. Purdue, Michigan Tech, GA Tech, University of Chicago & Tec De Monterrey are a few colleges have presented over the years.
04.04.16 – Design Engine again visited Grand Rapids but this time to the Bissell World Head Quarters. This 3 day workshop became a mixture of Creo Freestyle and learning basics of Creo to get the industrial designers excited about learning Creo ultimately it to make a Robust Creo 3.0 deliverable to Engineering.
04.04.16 – Design Engine administers her level one Learning Creo workshop to JW Speaker of Milwaukee Wisconsin. a long time Pro/ENGINEER user, JW Speaker is an OEM that makes headlights for the Major Motorcycle and Auto manufacturers.
04.18.16 – Design Engine visits Kalamazoo MI to again administer the WEEK1 Creo Surfacing Intensive. This Creo surfacing class was specifically designed for Dell industrial designers and studio engineers that previously took a special introductory Level 1 course where all the designers already knew Rhino or Solidworks first. Design Engine is responsible for getting the entire ID team of Rubbermaid to adopt Creo modeling tools thus working Rubbermaid into a more effective team of Studio Engineers and Industrial designers to all use the same tool.

The class is excelling fast however and the instructor moved into the Design engine Rhino 3d level 2 Nurbs modeling portion of the class to accommodate the special industrial designers learning needs. 12.07.15 – Bart Brejcha offers a special custom week three to Rubbermaid Industrial designers in Kalamazoo MI this week. This intense review of surfacing tools inside of Creo is intended to facilitate the use of Creo 3.0 instead of Solidworks and look at G2 light reflections. The participants all previously took the Design Engine surfacing week a year before. This move was intended so the ID deliverable to ME are smooth and concise where engineers don’t have to remodel products for production.
12.07.15 – Matt Holter administers his Creo 3.0 level 1 Creo training to Rubbermaid Industrial Designers & Engineers this week in Kalamazoo MI. This special workshop designed specifically for ID’ers gets into surfacing the fifth day of this class. The participants all have previous Solidworks, Rhino or Alias experience.
12.14.15 – Last Creo 3.0 class of the year. This level 1 Creo training class was held to Hayes Performance Products, Covidian & Chamberlain. The participants were all very fast as we were able to cover much more than normal in this Creo class over others. One item to note was that the participant from Hayes Performance is a professional Motard racer with AMA. We at design engine like that racing stuff.

10.22.12 – Bissell is trained at Design-Engine on Rhino Level 1. During this Level 1 Rhino training course, students will learn about surface modeling and discuss general modeling approaches relating specifically to Rhino 3D Software. In this class you’ll learn to create and edit accurate and free-form 3D NURBS curves and surfaces. This fast-moving class covers most of Rhino’s functionality, including the most advanced surfacing commands. In this comprehensive five day class you’ll learn to create and modify accurate and free-form 3D NURBS models. The last day of this class also includes one day of Flamingo, Vray, or Maxwell rendering instruction.

04.22.09 – Design-Engine’s Bart Brejcha conducts two one hour talks at the PTC User conference at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee. One talk covered basics then advanced Pro/Surface function for beginners then advanced users doing ergonomics specific to seating. The other talk was the second part of a two part talk on Pro/Cable. The first Pro/Cable RSD talk was given last winter where Bart discussed routing cables using Routed Systems Designer. This second half dealt with creating nail board drawings of flattened harnesses and dealing with failed wires in the drawings.

Bart presented two one hour talks at this Badgerland conference, one on the evolution of A-Class surface modeling with a serious look at Wildfire 4.0 surfacing functionality. Bart’s other talk was discussing Pro/Sheetmetal basic conversion from solid thin feature to reverse engineering a ‘Y’ and ‘K’ factor for prototype tooling. In this talk Bart showed many of the new features plus he discussed the difference between the solid sheetmetal cut vs the solid Pro/Engineer cut in Wildfire 4.0.

01.15.07 – Design-Engine administers a one week SolidWorks Training to industrial designers from Newell Eldon Division. Rubbermaid is a long time partner of Design-Engine.
01.15.07 – Newell Rubbermaid Eldon division sends several to a one week SolidWorks workshop. Hommer Tool and MFG also sent one to participate in this original SolidWorks training class. In this class we covered not only the basics of SolidWorks but surfacing and sheet metal as well.
01.22.07 – Mabe sends industrial designer to join our one week Pro/Surface ISDX workshop. This is a one of a kind Pro/Engineer training workshop.

01.29.07 – Sandia National Laboratory, sandia.gov, sends another engineer for an advanced custom Pro/Engineer training workshop to combine surfacing and sheet metal Pro/Engineer training.
02.05.07 – KI Industries, a plastic injection molding house, sends one more engineer for Pro/Engineer training. This hybrid course was created because the student already knew Pro/Engineer and wanted to get a better handle on the basics and advanced surfacing of both.
02.05.07 – Enercon Engineering (near Peoria) sends one engineer for Pro/Engineer Training. Knowing some Pro/Engineer already and having gone through other training classes this engineer was happy to be engaged with the Design-Engine style of training.
02.07.07 – Bart Brejcha conducts a two day plastics workshop using Pro/Engineer and Surfacing to Weil McClain of Michigan City, IL. This hybrid workshop covered the basics of the plastic injection process. Topics covered: the ID process, ID tools, capturing form, material properties, injection processes, and tips in Pro/Engineer for plastic part design.
03.05.07 – Bello Duafe of Lagos Nigeria comes for a three week Maya comprehensive so he could make for the beginnings of a 3D animation and design school in Lagos Nigeria.
03.05.07 – Bart Brejcha conducts a two day plastics seminar at AGCO Corporation in Jackson MN. This workshop was a custom designed workshop specific for vacuum forming plastics parts. This class covered history of plastics, material properties, and injection molding with emphasis on vacuum forming. Many tips and tricks using Pro/Engineer were shared for engineers looking to become experts at plastic part design. A set of custom tutorials were apart of the deliverable to AGCO engineers.
03.09.07 – Presto of Eau Claire WI takes a two day advanced Alias Studio workshop. Included were advanced modeling and render techniques.
03.12.07 – DOWCO Inc of Manitowoc, WI sends four to our one week surfacing intensive using Pro/Surface and ISDX.
03.19.07 – Design-Engine administers a one week SolidWorks Training workshop to tooling experts at Hommer Tool. Hommer tool is the injection tooling components company that makes the flash free collapsible cores that many plastic part designers are talking about.

This representative from the Blue Sky Development team of Verizon wants to get more designers from the Dallas based blue sky development team to learn Maya as a part of their design process and communication game to management.

06.21.07 – Design-Engine invited to speak at the Mattel Global Tech Summit in East Aurora, NY. This summit featured many consultants and software vendors into a round table to discuss workflow with respect to technology. Design-Engine’s Bart Brejcha spoke concerning recent deepLABS efforts and process to develop a Power Wheels product with respect to the combined use of Alias Studio and Pro/Enginer. Many from Autodesk Alias Studio presented along with Bob McNeal founder of Rhino3D and other representatives such as Adobe representatives spoke at the Mattel Summit.

09.17.07 – Power Surfacing onsite intensive for Fisher-Price design engineers. This multiple two and a half day intensive was held for the advanced development team responsible for developing the complex surfaces found on modern toys. This class administered to seasoned Pro/Surface and ISDX users focused specifically on modeling technique for managing design modifications, building relationships with industrial designers and solving typical problems associated with surfacing in general.

11.05.07 – Modern Drop Forge sends design engineers for basic Pro/Engineer training. The participants already had some Pro/Engineer experience so they were able to take advantage of a small class size to move fast through the materials.
11.19.07 – Elgin Molded Plastics comes in for Surfacing training.
12.03.07 – Masco sends industrial designer for Wildfire Pro/Engineer training this week. This industrial designer already had Rhino and Alias experience so he was able to get into surfacing for the last few days of this customized on the fly type of training.
12.10.07 – Royal Technologies comes in for a two day surfacing workshop but was able to learn much more about Pro/Engineer than just surfacing.
12.14.07 – Bart Brejcha speaks at the Wisconsin Pro/Engineer user conference. His talk set the foundation of his white paper to the PTC international conference. His talk suggested alternate modeling techniques for industrial designers who are familiar with direct modeling in Alias Studio. By using control vertices in Wildfire 4.0, surfacing industrial designers can prove form even faster with new Wildfire 4.0 tools and engineers can capture form faster as well. 06.09.06 – Bart Brejcha administers a special two day Pro/Engineer Training Workshop to Michigan Tech engineering students in the upper Peninsula of Michigan. The students currently use Unigraphics because of Automobile donations. The students wanted Pro/Engineer Training because the majority the engineering jobs ask for Pro/Engineer in the workplace and for potential for higher pay using Pro/Engineer. Topics discussed were: working with industrial design, job search, online resumes, and 14 hours of full on Pro/Engineer training including Pro/Sheetmetal, Pro/Surface, Mechanism, and the basics. 06.26.06 – Bart Brejcha administers a special two day Plastics Workshop to Sears Seating. The class covered history of plastics, plastic part design, injection process, and tips & tricks using Pro/Engineer to get the plastic parts completed better faster cheaper.

02.07.05 – NASCAR #32 Tide Race Car team engineers makes an appearance at Design Engine’s Chicago facility to raise skill levels in Pro/Engineer. More and more Nascar teams are recognizing the value of Pro/Engineer Software and its use as a design and engineering tool in the high speed world of NASCAR auto racing.

02.25.05 – Design-Engine staff assist famous Chicago sculptors: Eric May, Jason Ver Beek, and John Werner with models, documentation using Pro/Engineer, and renderings using Maya. All this was done for the 100 thousand dollar purse the McCormick Foundation Sculpture Competition will award the winner.
02.28.05 – Several past Design-Engine 3-week comprehensive engineers are being courted by Harley Davidson and come back for ISDX G2 surface modeling workshops to ensure their new hire.
03.22.05 – Alfredo Santillan begins his tenure as an instructor with Design-Engine. He has a degreed industrial designer from “TEC de Montery” in Mexico City and masters in Automobile design from the “Scuola Politecnica di Design”. His contribution to our team with Alias and Pro/Engineer instruction to industrial designers. When not teaching a class or directing tutorials he will be designing products for the deepLABS division of Design-Engine.

04.04.05 – Sam Byrd, one of our three week WIA students, started Caterpillar in a fuel systems group. He received his degree in mechanical engineering from Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff.

11.09.05 – Moto Restaurant Staff and Chef Homaro Cantu take tour of Design-Engine Education training facility and deepLABS ultimately to listen to a capabilities overview and general overview of product design as a process apart from continued education of restaurant staff. Part of the discussion was discussing experience design, industrial design, and Pro/Engineer as a part of a design process and an overview of rapid prototyping. Restaurant staff is put at ease to lead or participate in ideation meetings with designers and engineers.

12.12.05 – Zebco sends another industrial designer for the surfacing week with Pro/Surface and ISDX.
12.12.05 – Nike product design team Scott Wilson and Steve Berry come to Chicago for a combined week long focus in Pro/Engineer Wildfire. Portions of the workshop focus on surfacing and solids. This Level 1 Industrial Designer workshop had a combined team of ID and ME together for an enhanced learning experience.

01.31.04 – Bart Brejcha of Design-Engine does a one day Wildfire workshop to ID students at Purdue University. He helped students use Pro/Engineer Wildfire to prove form as opposed to capturing form.
02.04.04 – Design-Engine starts offering weekly workshops at the Chicago office every Wednesday evening.
04.01.04 – Design-Engine speaks at the Milwaukee Pro/Engineer Users Group on reverse engineering in Wildfire. Topics discussed were: different import file types, 2D imports for sketching over, using ISDX, deleting export geometry, and maintaining parametric controls to name a few. A topic not discussed was Restyle, look for future talks using Restyle from Design-Engine staff.

05.06.04 Bart Brejcha spoke to 500+ engineers at the Pro/Users conference in Nashville, TN. After the conference Mr. Brejcha administered a two day surfacing intensive. Mostly top surfacing experts to take this intensive. The class was made up of representatives from major manufactures from around the world. Engineers from Volkswagen, Sears Seating, and Motorola showed up hoping to learn about interactive surfacing inside of Pro/Engineer Wildfire 2.0. Four of the top “ID to First Level Engineering Model” from Plantation Motorola were present for this workshop in Tennessee and two from Frankfort Germany Volkswagen plant.
05.11.04 – Groundwork laid for design museum and associated Design-Engine product design school to be located in Bangalore, India expected to start construction in 2008.
05.15.04 – Dean Gambino joins our team. We are grateful to have him working with us. He is a team player and a true asset to our company. He will be managing our WIA students by assisting in enrollment and job placement. He will also be communication with contract agencies for the job placement.
06.05.04 – Design-Engine strikes a deal with Atkinson Design in Toronto Ontario to administer the Design-Engine unique training model in Canada.
09.02.04 – Design-Engine announces the new hire of Mike Vostal. Mike Vostal took our three week comprehensive workshop in the Summer and we hired him full time. Congratulations to Mike Vostal, who recently joined Design-Engine!
09.18.04 – Design-Engine goes to Texas to teach Schlumberger Wildfire 2.0 Update Training.
12.10.04 – A large number of our past 3 week students are now employed with manufacturing companies. Jesus Borja was a three week student who was recently laid off from Motorola and due to our training got a new job back at Motorola making more money. Edison Ornate just secured a new assignment making $30 per hour. David Fronzak got a permanent job with McMaster Car. John Edwards started his first job this week at Manitowoc Cranes in Wisconsin.

04.15.03 – PTC asks Design-Engine to create renderings for the June Pro/Engineer world event.
05.15.03 – SkilBosh Powertools sent several teams for Pro/Surface Level 1 training.
06.6.03 – Design-Engine founder writes article on the newest release of Pro/Engineer called Wildfire on design-engine.com
07.20.03 – Design-Engine modifies its three week comprehensive course to accommodate any course offered for a three week period. This could encompasses a week of Alias Studio, a week of Pro/Engineer, and a week of projects.
09.24.03 – Design-Engine announced the third annual 2003 photo-real competition winners, featuring furniture. Nike Design Director, Scott Wilson, wins overall.
09.30.03 – Federal Funding is now available for Design Engine students. We are now a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Certified training provider. Although you do not have to be unemployed to take advantage of this Federal Grant you will have to speak to your local “Unemployment Case Worker” or call us for more information. This federal funding means you can change careers to learn product design or enhance your current skills with three weeks of surfacing for example.
11.13.03 – Design-Engine along with PTC, Steelcase, and HP put on another 48tofly event. Combined six industrial designers in a room full of Steelcase furniture, with HP / Compaq computers, PTC’s latest software, some 19″ Wacom tablets, and a fridge full of Red Bull.
11.24.03 – Design-Engine’s first WIA funded student gets a job at Motorola Cellular Subscriber Group in Libertyville. Although Kai had a masters in engineering coming into our training, it was his three weeks of surfacing in Wildfire that made him attractive to his new team leaders.
12.10.03 – Design-Engine modifies its three week comprehensive course to include Maya Modeling and Rendering Curriculum for tooling and manufacturing. The course is intended for industrial designers and is a WIA funded program. Our first three week comprehensive Maya workshop starts March 1st 2004.

05.08.97 – Through Steve Nardy’s Pro Engineering Consultants, Bart Brejcha worked with the Boyton Beach Gabriel Khouri’s team at Motorola’s International Paging by assisting and training engineers in top down design and surfacing. This Pro/Engineer training style is very different from that of a PTC training class in that we customize the training on the spot.
11.04.97 – SRAM Corporation asks Design-Engine to conduct a 4 day surfacing workshop in Pro/Surface now called Creo Surfacing.

03.10.98 – Design-Engine creates and conducts several Pro/Engineer surfacing workshops to various key engineers at BE Aerospace in NC.
06.10.98 – Design-Engine creates several Pro/Engineer surfacing workshops to various Caterpillar engineers.
09.14.98 – University of Chicago Astro Physics group from the Yerkies Observatory enlist the help of Design-Engine to train key members with Pro/Engineer so their team can interface with NASA. The U of C team is building infrared telescopes for the NASA 747 to ultimately evaluate distant forming star fields called SOFIA. Design Engine prepared and delivered classes for importing large data into then Pro/ENGINEER.
10.01.98 – Design-Engine moves into its new facility downtown Chicago’s West Loop.
11.22.98 – Design-Engine upgrades its computer systems with all brand new Dell workstations.
11.02.98 – Several high school graduates come to Design-Engine for Pro/Engineer training hoping to enhance their drafting skills and get jobs in the industry, they get jobs at Kohler and Bobcat. This is the start of our 3 and 4 week training intensives.

02.15.99 – Ignite Product Development comes in for one week of Pro/Designer training this week. This software evolved into Creo Style module and is now administered as the last two days of our WEEK Long Creo Surfacing training.

04.15.01 – Beyond Design of Chicago again enlists Design-Engine to assist teaching industrial designers to utilize Pro/Engineer for concept modeling. This Pro/Engineer training workshop helps industrial designers learn Pro/E at a very high level all in one week.
04.15.01 – Rubbermaid Division Eldon enlists Design-Engine for ISDX training conducted in Madison, WI. This class is now administered in WEEK Long Creo Surfacing training.
05.11.01 – SRAM Corporation sends test engineer for four weeks of Pro/ENGINEER training. SRAM also considers sending new hire engineers for training from the start of employment.
06.16.01 – SRAM Corporation sends first new hire to Design-Engine for one week Pro/E training workshop before starting work. Design-Engine team develops curriculum based upon intended projects.
12.11.01 – Bart Brejcha speaks to 100 Engineers at the Wisconsin Pro/Engineer Users Group on surfacing for engineers working with industrial design. In the audience was Kohler and John Deere, to name a couple. Lecture on advanced surfacing using the new ISDX module from PTC.
12.17.01 – Design-Engine speaks to Hinsdale High School about a potential future in industrial design. Bart Brejcha speaks about Pro/Engineer and Alias Studio as design tools. He explained what Calculus is and how it is used in industry without using the word calculus.
